Old jimmiedave.com est mort.
If you came expecting something else, it’s probably not here anymore. I’ve completely revamped the site.
My old site was hand-coded, ugly as sin, but had been online since around 1995. I’d been using it mainly for photo galleries, and the quality wasn’t what I wanted. I hope you like the new place better. I’ve kept only the content that people were actively looking for, and will try to generate some decent new content. More on my analysis of the old site’s traffic soon…

Wouldn’t you say your previous one was remanicent of the type of art you were making at the time? As I recall, paper textures were the “in” thing at the time. I remember thinking how cool it was and how very “David” it was at the time. Somewhere I have my very first website saved. Probably on a CD that can’t be accessed any more.

Well again, kind words. Yeah, I was trying to do a Venetian sort of textured paper look, but it’s overall pretty geeky. Plus used a few tricks that I want out of any project I work on today. Shoemaker’s kid, that old site.
Still, I do recall focusing on what I was actually using the site for last time I did a redesign, and that was mainly photo posts. I reworked the IA a bit, and made photo posts kinda central, but it still never just jelled.
Am currently looking at the content that people actually viewed over the last year. Stuff that didn’t get more than a hit or two got dropped as ROT (Redundant, Outdated or Trivial). Am impressed that the content that got found, viewed actually had good and detailed writing. Stuff that was never seen was all photos with captions only – if that. They’re gone now. More REAL content to come soon, hopefully…
